Before Mazire could follow, the bar itself burst into flames, knocking Zelina into a wall with the force of the blast. It was unknown if anyone had survived amidst the flaming wreckage that followed.



"Heh, right on time," Jacen grinned in the direction of the explosion, "Though I do wish I could have got them all together first. Oh well, hindsight..."

Meanwhile, Nobe and Solvek were running for it when Solvek stopped, seeing a pretty, and lucky, barmaid wandering down a back-alley out of the corner of his eye, smoke still rising off her.

"Hm, beauty calls," Solvek smiled and leapt in after her, "I'll save you ma'am! Ha HA!"

"You're unbelievable!," Nobe shook his head in disdain.

"He really is isn't he?" Heats sexy drawl emanated from beside Nobe.

Ouch. That was the second time today.. and this wasn't just a smack, this was a full on blast. The poor imp passed out from the impact.

The necromancer was seething with rage as the two demons closed in around him. Maybe it was the pain of the bindings searing into his soul. Maybe it was the humiliation of being saved by that long-eared sex fiend!

And then he felt the lights go out for Zelina.



"I want your HEAD!," a dark aura rose up around the necromancer, melting him back to his normal form as a legion of skeletal guards tore through the floor around him.

"Oh, I was just leaving myself," Jacen sneered at Nobe, "This party's getting a might uncivilized."

"Until we meet again, my angel," the demon blew her a kiss as he faded away with a dark chuckle.

And then, with a pounding headache, Heat's mind was her own again.



Donning a gentler, human guise even as he scrambled off the rooftop, Nobe scooped Zelina up in his arms, healing her as he held her, "Are you... alright?"

The imp let out a tiny groan as she started to regain consciousness.

".. Head's.. killin' me.. everything else too.."

"But we'll survive," he promised with an uncharacteristically gentle grin, "Just as we always have."

Heat lost her sense of balance and came crashing down into the snow. She held her head tightly as a couple of tears rolled down her face. "He left me..." Heat groaned as she held her head.

"Of course he left you," Nobe glowered over at her, Zelina still in his arms, "In the time I come from, the name Jacen Koriander is synonymous with a long list of atrocities he has brought to Phoenix City. He uses the weak, manipulates the strong, and kills without pause or mercy."

"You may fancy yourself a demon," the necromancer narrowed his eyes, "But compared to evil that old and cruel, you might as well be a goblin in drag."

Zelina just remained silent, resting in Nobe's hand.

"I'm used to being used, that I can take, But he couldn't have taken me with him?" Heat shouted wincing as her head throbbed. "You have NO idea what its like Nobe! NONE!" She screamed into the snow pulling her arms tighter around her head.

"Wanna bet?" She finally chimed in. "What you experienced wasn't even a quarter bad as what Master Nobe's been through."

"Shut up you little bitch! You have no idea who I am, or what I've been through!" Heat sat up screaming at Zelina, tear rolling down her face. "You don't even know who I am!"

"Yeah? And I don't care who you are either. But the fact that you're really inexperienced as a succubus makes me think you're a newly transformed one." Zelina snorted and managed to sit up a little. "We all have our sob stories, sister. Get over it and move on. You ever hear the saying 'What doesn't kill you makes you stronger?'"

"There's no more time for this," Nobe interrupted, looking to the still-burning remains of the bar, "Jacen. Mazire's psychotic sister. A totalitarian church. It seems an increasing number of enemies wish to see us, indeed, less dead than strong. If we expect to survive, we'd better get moving."

Walking forward into the moonlight, the necromancer glowered back, both threatening and stoic at the same time, "Shall we?"
