Ogre Cookies ...With Real Ogres! Honest! (Ash City Alts)

The year is 17 BPC. Two years from now, the violent Ash City Riots will tear the ghostly metropolis asunder, bringing it to a standstill and initiating the birth of the greatest city in all of Circunima.

But all this is soon to change. In a dark alley, amidst a snow-covered night, a lone figure appears with an electric hum and a faint glow.

This is the story of how he, and evil souls like him, forged a dark new path for the world as we know it.

Standing with a light groan, Nobe looked up to the chilling sky above. Funny. He no longer felt such things.

"This is where the man said I'd be," he grimaced as he attempted to get his bearings.

Walking down the street, her hips swinging to the rhythm of her steps, humming aimlessly as the cool night air wrapped its tendrils around her long, exposed legs and arms Heat smiled. Her smile seductive as she scoped out the night streets for her latest victim.

From a snow-covered rooftop, an unseen assassin smiled in thought to himself as he nibbled on a confectionary in the cookie variety and watched the sultry tart stroll away, "Lookie what I found. This city's gonna be interesting."

Oblivious to the rooftop stalker, Nobe quirked a brow at the perfumed scent of the woman headed his way, "Do I detect a hint of brimstone under all those petals...? Let's find out."



"You there, state your business in the Merchant's City," a man rasped gruffly as he approached from down the alley, getting visibly annoyed when the shadowy figure did not immediately answer, "I asked you a question! Are you deaf as well as ugly?!"

Turning at last to face the guard, Nobe's eyes narrowed, his hand brimming with a deep blue fire, "You may wish to rephrase your request. From your tone, I understood you wish to die."

Solvek momentarily stopped crunching on his cookie and watched as the little vixen turned back, "Damn, gotta remember not to eat the crunchy ones when I'm stalking..."

Waiting until she was on her way, he began jumping rooftop after rooftop, following her.

About that time, the flaming object that used to be an officer of the law flew unceremoniously out of a nearby alley and into the street with a thud as the shadowed figure responsible came strolling casually out behind, "Good evening. Lovely weather we're having."

"Hmm, I'd have to agree." Heat grinned a perfect set of pearly whites and stuck out her perfectly manicured hand. "Heat."

"No one you've heard of yet," Nobe's eyes narrowed once more, not with malice, but amusement, "But I couldn't help noticing you smell lovely. It seems a pity, though, to cover such a seductively fiendish aura with the trappings of mortal dirt."

Solvek lowers into a ball to watch the events unfold, biting down on a much softer cookie, wondering silently if he'd have to come to the young lady's rescue and then charge her double.

But then, nothing in this world was for free.

Heats grin faded and she dropped her hand. "Oh yeah...thank...you?"

"And modest too," Nobe guffawed with sarcasm only obvious to the two of them as he strolled behind her with such silence that it seemed as if his feet were not even making contact with the ground, "But I did not come half a century back from the future to flatter you. This city is not long for the world, but I may know a way to not only amend this bleak certainty but do so in a way that will prove favorable for myself ...and anyone on the right side when the chips fall. What of you?"

Heat smiled. "Half a century?" She put a hand on his arm. "How about you tell me about that." She suggested looping her arm through his before peaking into his mind.

Solvek, by this time, has made his way down to the ground level, listening to every word.

Leaned up against a wall, still quite invisible, he decides whether or not he should make himself known.

"Didn't expect to find persons as despicable as myself so soon," he grinned to himself.

As she peeked in, Nobe did not resist, but rather blasted the many thoughts on his mind to the forefront. Thoughts of a future city - Phoenix City - that was beyond the comprehension of anyone who had existed before it to grasp without some difficulty, along with the study of the terrible atrocities that befell the citizens of Ash City at the time of its demise.

It was the mental equivalent of being thrust head-first into a roaring tornado.

Heat gripped the mans arm attempting to hold herself upright. The air flew from her lungs as her eyes widened.

Seeing that the warlock had already beaten him to the punch, Solvek waved it off with an annoyed scowl, "Oh well, guess he was the faster. Maybe I'll get a chance with the vixen after he's done. Then again, maybe a bar wench will give me a run for my money instead..."

With that, he left to go find said bar, appearing in the middle of the alley, and in the peripheral vision of the dazed woman, to give her a wink before rounding a corner out of sight.

"Quite a disastrous turn of events, wouldn't you agree?," Nobe grinned behind his mask as he held her, "But this was the world I left behind, and soon there will be a new world. In that world, I will be a god. Where will you be?"

Heat jumped out of his arms putting her hands on his chest pushing him back slightly. "I'll be ruling over all the men. Slaves are a fun concept don't you think Mr...what is your name?" She asked folding her arms in front of herself.

"Most assuredly a man, but none like you've ever encountered," the warlock sneered with satisfaction as she had apparently accepted his proposal, "I am Nobe Phane, master of the black arts, and just as I defied death itself, I shall defy the wheel of time to become lord over a world so desperately in need of change."

"But Nobe, are we really so desperately in need of a change? Does that future really need to happen?" She asked sliding her hand down his arm with a pout.

"As you saw, that future is inevitable if events continue on their current track," Nobe paced as he spoke, his undead mind alight with ideas as he suddenly stopped to look into her eyes with a piercing gaze, "But having studied my history well, I knew when to go back."

At this, he smiled, "History, you see, is a series of connected dots, and moved but an inch out of place, the timeline must readjust to compensate, making any future possible."

"So what happens this year thats so important to change Nobe?" Heat whispered her eyes heating up and her body thawing out in the cold evening. She let her arms drop towards her tiny skirt and she started to play with the hem. She bit her bottom lip and her pout spread to her eyes.
