Family Feud (Ami Yuuka)

When she awoke, Ami found herself staring at the world from the inside of a vat of acid green preservation fluid, sealed of course, in which she had been floating for an impossible-to-determine amount of time.

The lab hadn't changed at all, nor had "Father's" methods of keeping his "children" comfortable. The only question now was if she could get out in time.

Water's last words before the blackout still hung fresh in her mind, not for any sympathetic value, but for the unanswered riddle they presented. Father... completed? He had been working on making himself the "ultimate body" since before she or any of her siblings were born, but how far had he gone this time...?

Ami sighed crossing her arms. She glared blankly out into the lab. "Oh what the hell..." Ami tapped on the glass. "Come onnnnn."

Looking out at the lab, Ami noted that she was curiously stationed in the organic mutant section instead of with the other dolls. Remembering procedure, she knew they were kept in less stable vats as the proper procedure against a mutant escaping was not to contain but to kill via a lethal gas that dolls were, of course, immune to.

Ami grinned. "Oh sweet retardedness." Kicking the glass she watched it crack up the center of the tube. She snickered before pushing on the crack slightly shattering it. "And there ya go."

Finally free, she knew she'd have to make her escape as the alarm went off, but where to? The lab was bound to be sealed before she could possibly leave it, and if her siblings were on base, they would be looking for her and inevitably hunt her down.

Ice, for one, was always on base training. It was all he ever did, and Father kept him in reserve just in case the others should fail against their assigned target.

Worse still, Dol was known to keep a variety of monsters by type on this level. So, which would it be? Giant mutant monsters of doom, or the poisonous but comparatively weak-limbed living dead?

Ami grumbles as she jumped out of the vat running for the door. Praying that she was faster than the door seal. She could fight off monsters but her family was another matter. Sh didnt want to have to evade them forever... Reaching the door she tugged on it hopeing that it would give for her if only just this once.

Sure enough, Ami rolled just past the doors in time with a spectacularly acrobatic leap, but as the lab's mutant chamber sealed shut behind her with a mechanical hiss, she heard something amidst the fainting glowing vats in the darkness beyond resembling human groans of pain.

Stepping out from behind one of them was a man in a labcoat who Ami instantly recognized as Dr. Avliden, one of her father's trusted associates and a twisted psychopath to boot.



"You did well to get this far, Shadow Dol," Avliden mockingly complimented her, "But your rebellion ends here, as my children will make short work of you!"

His shrill laugh hanging in the air like stale bread, he took a remote from his coat pocket and, with the press of a button, the preservation fluid began draining from the vats in the hallway. Within a few horrifying moments, a virtual army of once-living abominations stood between Ami and her only way out. There was only one way past this...

The first two undead atrocities reached Ami faster than she expected, their spindly, spider-like legs carrying them with much more speed than the lumbering, misshapen monsters that lagged behind for now.

While one raked viciously with its foreclaws, the other lurched forward, snapping its teeth in a feral bite that dripped with a sickly green slime.

Ami struggeled against the claws to get away from the teeth not succeding in any of it. She flung her arms in front of her face groaning.

Suddenly, the air grew much chillier, and the ghouls stopped in their tracks, flesh rimed with ice. Dr Avliden was similarly frozen on the spot.



A quick look behind revealed the reason for this sudden turn of events was perched atop a high platform, scythe held dramatically over his back.

"You're always getting into trouble," he looked down at her with his usual, indifferent tone.

Ami turned and looked up at Ice with a guilty grin. "Sup bro?" She knelt then forced herself into the air landing on Ice's perch before wrapping her arm around his neck hin a tight hug. "How ya been?"

"Training, the same as always," Ice said flatly, leaning just slightly into the hug without hugging back as he always did. From him, this was as good as a kiss on the cheek, "I understand that you're to be apprehended at all costs, and the others are nowhere to be found. Intriguing."

Ami pouted. "Yea well nobody else wants to see me...I think." She put her arms down and looked to the side. "Plus...I think Water and Fire have had enough of me, and I think Earth is still too disipointed in himself."

"Earth is dead," Ice looked up, eyes suddenly flaring to life with concern, "Fire and Water damaged his lifespark knowing they could use him to capture you. It is impossible for him to have lasted this long."

"Frankly," his gaze turned to the hallway beyond, "The lack of presence from the others, especially Fire, is a disturbing sign as well."

Ami's eyesgot wide as tears started to roll down her cheeks. "Bu-but...Earth..." Ami's head landed on Ice's chest with a thud ters still streaming down her face.

Ice simply held her for a time, his cool presence strangely comforting, and let her have a good cry before speaking, "There is something you need to know about Father that I hesitated to mention until now..."

"Ye-yea?" Ami asked whipeing the tears from her cheeks before looking back up at him.

"Three months ago, while scouting the perimeter, I saw something strange," Ice related the story, "It was growing in a vat somewhere between the area you just left and Level Three where our siblings rest."



"The creature was clearly another Dol," Ice remembered, "But the energy emanating from it was different from any I have encountered before in the lab. The identification plaque read simply as 'Project Family'."

Ami's eyes got wide. "Wow...seriously? Thats...wow... Why do you think Father is making another brother?"

"Do you remember what Father once said about perfection?," Ice reminded her, "He swore he would never cease until he was as perfect as he expected us to be."
