Without another word, the golem marched forward and laid into the monsters with a series of hard slams from its mighty stone fists.

Kage, not wanting be shown up by his newly appointed "Guardian," slides past the golem, and with one swift motion, Kage slices the Qutrub across the chest, and the blade dissapears back into the sheath, ready for another taste of blood.

As the creature dove in for the attack, the golem's sparking forcefield activated with an electric hum, propelling the monster in a recoil. Before it had time to go far, the golem grabbed it by the shoulders and headbutted it twice in the skull.

As Kage sees the Qutrub fly backwards from the golem, Kage's blade once again shows itself as he unsheaths it and cuts into the Qutrub while it's the air.

As Kage landed from his blow, the monster turned to attack again, but its spine, having been slashed in two, turned a little too far, and it fell in two halves to the ground with an agonized cry.

As Kage sees the Qutrub fall in half, he sheaths his blade, turns to the golem, and says, "I can see why these creatures were destroying the statues, because I don't they would stand much of a chance."

Kage extends his hand to the golem, and says, " I would be honored if you would join me......" Kage trails off, and says, " I'm sorry, in the mist of combat, I forgot to ask your name."

"I am Ro, Golem of Akakopolis," the golem made a formal bow, "How may I assist you, Master?"

Kage looks to Ro and says, "please, you don't have to be formal with me, just call me Kage, ok?"

As Kage begins to step out of the building, Kage asks Ro, " So, Ro, to the east to the Cavern of the Wyrmwraith. Anything expected that you would know about?"

"The desert beyond is filled with more qutrubs, Kage," Ro elaborated, immediately correcting his form of address to suit the Master's wishes, "In addition, the more powerful ghul may be encountered, along with lesser djinn and brigands, themselves lost much as you are. Finally, when we reach the cavern, we must contend with the wyrmwraith itself."

Kage thinks, ' Hmm.....more Guhl, that wouldn't be a problem, but lesser djinn, and that Wyrmwraith doesn't sound too pleasant.'

Kage says, "Ro, if you know about the cavern, surely you would know a way to it. and I also need to know about this Wyrmwraith, cause if the situation does present itself, we might have to fight it, so any information would be helpful."

"The most secure route is an underground passage meant for my brethern in times of need," Ro answered, "But it carries on for many miles, and you would not survive for lack of air."

"The wyrmwraith was once a dragon of the desert sands who rules his subjects with the fear of being devoured," he continued, "But after he was slain by the great hero Nida'la, his captives were set free, and the sand dragon's vengeful spirit rose to haunt the site of its death. It is said that the wyrmwraith particularly despises those visitors with an aura of goodness, and will attack them on sight. None have witnessed it in battle long enough to say more before dying."

Kage thinks to himself, ' Well, can't do that since i do need air, but if the golems had a way....'

Kage says, "How did the Sultan get across the desert, and get passed the Wyrmwraith?"

"The Great Djinni Sultan, as a spirit of the air, can make a current of wind around Himself even if no air is present," Ro explained, "Perhaps he will teach you how when you meet him if you prove yourself worthy."

Kage thinks to himself, ' A sprit of the air, that would be useful to teach me some tricks, all the more reason to find him.'

Kage says, " Isn't there a way that I could make it without trekking through the desert? Also, if there isn't any other way, would you know at least where exactly the entrance to the cavern is at?"

"There is a path through the mountains," Ro offered, "You will have to cross a small amount of desert to get there, and the path sometimes crosses through dragon territory, but you will be less likely to run into a sandstorm, ghul, or ifrit. Brigands, however, will be more common."

Kage says, "Well, I've had enough of the sand to last me a lifetime, so Ro, lead the way to the mountains."

"By your leave, Kage," Ro walked past and out of the ruins, leading the way as instructed.



The next afternoon, Kage found himself tired, thirsty, and undoubtedly annoyed with the high, dirty winds and ...the dirt! However, the passage at which the golem finally stopped was anything but inviting.

"We have arrived," Ro announced, "This is Dead Pass."
