Deftly, she caught the tiny scrape of paper with her right hand, her left never leaving her side. She backed away from him towards where Zanth was laying. Her dark eyes never left his.

"Why would you help me?"

The question escaped her before she could stop it and she paused in her movement, waiting for his answer.

Turning to face the open night air, for the first time in forever a free man, Pinstripe stretched out his arms and breathed a sigh of relief before turning back to answer her with what appeared to be a genuine smile, "I see something familiar when I look at you. Something I would have done anything for once. I'm not going to let them cage and kill that something again. I'll be away until you need me. Till then..."

His eyes softening a bit, he faded like a mist into the shadows.
