"Huh?," Cania blinked, "What are you getting at? If anyone else was going for that job, I sure didn't see them."

"Well it's a good thing you didn't see him!" She exclaims "he killed two of my friends in one strike! Hells thats why I'm here."

"You're not making a damn bit of sense babe," Cania shrugged, "When we get back to civilization, remind me to have a healer look at your head."

Looking around as figures in the shadows began to shuffle, Cania narrowed his eyes, "But let's focus on that first part for now."

Eyes meeting a specific crook in the ceiling of a building across the street, the anubian thief took a grappling hook from his knapsack and tossed it flawlessly into the crevice, which couldn't have been more than wide enough to hold it, before staking it to the ground.

"Going up!," he barked to Kaylea, motioning for her to go first.

"Sence when have I needed a rope!?" she says with exasperation her feat lifting from the earth as she flys up to where the hook was caught. "You coming Canya?"

"She flies too?," Cania chuckled as he scaled the rope with the speed of a snake, "Who replaced my partner with a competent mage?"

"I oughta singe your but for that." she says with a glare "Where to now?"

"I never get involved with my coworkers," Cania quipped with a casual smile as he cut the rope just in time to also cut off an angry mob of anubians filing out from the alleys and flooding the street, then looked about, "I'd say a rooftop escape is in order."

"Looks like! What'd you do this time?" she says "Steel all the ale in the pub?"

"I would never sink so low!," Cania looked aghast as he leaped from one building to another with his powerful legs, "Everyone knows that you only steal the wines worth selling."

"Ever the avarasious bastard." she mumbles folowing him with ease "So where are we headed?"

"Don't worry, we're close," Cania leapt down into a nearby ally, using the strategic grappling of awnings and clotheslines to cushion his descent.

Once safely, and quietly, landed on his feet, he looked about warily until he found an open door and discreetly motioned to it.

Teleporting down to the indicated doorway she heads inside. "Now what?"

"Now you finally face justice, temple thief," a familiar voice called from the shadows inside with notable hostility, and Zeaken strode forward, sword drawn, "Surrender or die."

"So what you're my greatest demon?" she asks annoiedly droping into a defensive posture "Or is that supposed to be Cania?"

No sooner had she spoken than a cacophonous mixture of explosions and screams rocked the world outside, blanketing it in a destructive red glow as horrifically visible from the room's single window and doorway.



The next scream was Cania's as he was promptly impaled by a sword. The woman wielding it, shockingly familiar, casually slid his bloody body off her blade and smiled to Kaylea with evil intent, "No, me."

'I'm my oun best friend and worst enemy!'

"Well then, lets get this over with." she says fury masking her features as she draws her enchanted blades "As you're nothing more than steping stone!"
