Prelude In Shadows (Kaylea)

   Marrowbrook Castle was, appropriately enough considering its master, dark and foreboding, like a blight that seemed to stretch out of the craggy mountainside below it, and all light and life from the world around seemed to be drawn somewhere within those unhallowed halls, never to be seen again.

   From so high above, Kaylea could clearly see that the castle guard had not been entirely exaggerated; no less than ten skeletons, armed with curved swords, stood around the perimeter of the castle, keeping watch.

   The higher windows were more perilous still; apparently barred from the inside, or so it seemed from that distance, and gave off a bone-chilling warning to any who ventured too close.

'Skeletons for guards, huh. Well isn't that lively.'

"Guess I'll need to take a closer look." she says quietly and slowly decends circling the castle cautiously.

As Kaylea circled the castle, the skeletons watched the castle perimeter warily, searching for intruders such as herself.

All it took was a single strike from Kaylea's magically charged wand blade to turn the undead soldier into so much dust. However, there wasn't much time; with nine other skeletons guarding the perimeter, two likely close by, and a powerful sorcerer clearly watching over his keep, it was only a matter of time before the enemy mobilized to attack in numbers.

And then, as if on cue, fourteen skeletons surrounded Kaylea from all sides, parting only as their leader, a deathly warrior wielding a large blade, walked up to her and smiled darkly.



"You may come along quietly, prisoner, or be silenced for eternity here and now," the ghoulish captain rasped.

"It seems as tho I have no choice." she said defeatedly sheathing her blades.

"But this had better be a four star dungen." she added with her usual sarcasim.

"Not to worry," the ghoul gestured toward something in a ruby cloak that two skeletons threw at Kaylea's feet, "You'll even have a friend to keep you company."



Standing straight, Kradu brushed himself off and faced the ghoul with as much dignity as he could muster, "Rugashi. I see your Master has little more use for you than a walking security system these days. You must be horribly bored."

"I suppose I'll just have make the most of my new dungeon toys," Rugashi sneered and, with a wave of his hand, had the guards drag the two captured heroes inside.
